Tinsel and Lametta and Icicles
  
Tinsel:
Tinsel ornaments are often decorated with scraps, foil, wax, Dresden stars, etc, while some have glass beads and chenille figures added. The old tinsel has usually turned into a a warm dark golden glow, not always easy to catch on the photo's.

Lametta:
Below are packages with strands of lametta, which apparently is sometimes also called icicles or tinsel. The first one, ICICLES, but having tinsel strands, is the largest, being 13 x 34 cm high. The brand's name is "Swan Decorations" and on the box is also mentioned "Made in Wales". The other packages are approx. 10 x 27 cm or 7 x 29cm. Larger packages have been made, as can be seen with the Santa/toys above city with different size, but same main design. Usually the text leaves no doubt as to their provenance, except for the second and third, where the front says "Silver Moss Tinsel" although they are made in Western Germany.

East-German tinsel is made of aluminium and not traditional tinsel with a lead core ("Stanniol") because lead was too valuable a natural resource. Factories’ names  in East Germany started with VEB, which stands for "Volkseigener Betrieb", i.e. "Factory owned by the people" (= literal translation) (ref. Frank Paul).

Some have figures on the back, which can be cut out.

Icicles/Glaçons/Eiszapfen:
Most boxes are about 6 cm wide x 10 cm high, some a bit larger, others a bit smaller, except the first one, which is 15 cm wide x 8 cm high. The first three photos show five boxes with the same design, but, judging by the colors and the details, which do not show very clearly in the pictures, I think they are from different periods.
Some have provenance printed on the back.
